At first, the AC supply enters the transformer, which reduces the voltage to 6.3V AC, then the low AC voltage passes through the bridge rectifier, which converts it into pulsating DC.
After that, capacitors C1 and C2 remove the ripples, producing a smoother DC voltage.
Now this DC voltage is fed to LM309 IC and this IC regulates the voltage and therefore, the output becomes constant 5 volts DC.
Finally, capacitors C3 and C4 remove the output noise, providing a clean and stable 5V DC output.
How to Build:

- First, collect all the parts of circuit as shown in circuit diagram.
- Then connect transformer primary to input of 220V A and connect transformer secondary to bridge rectifier input.
