Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit

Last updated on 13 August 2025 by Admin-Lavi Leave a Comment

Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit is fun and easy to make.

It uses IC 555 and make time delay.

Press one switch and start timer.

Guess time presses second switch and it stop.

LED show result and it is good for learning how brain feel time.

Circuit uses 9V battery.

Circuit Working:

Parts List:

ComponentSpecificationQuantity
Resistors (All resistors are 1/4 watt unless specified)2.2M, 100k, 330Ω1 each
CapacitorsCeramic 0.01µF1
Electrolytic 1µF 25V1
SemiconductorsIC 555 Timer1
LED 5mm 20mA1
Push button switch1
SPST switch1
9V Battery1

When S1 is ON then C1 charge through R1 and R2.

555 timer work in monostable so pin 3 goes HIGH.

LED1 is ON and timing start.

C1 charge till 2/3 supply so timer gets reset and pin 3 goes LOW and LED1 gets OFF.

Press S2 which stop timer and compare guessed time vs real time.

The formula for time delay in monostable mode is: T = 1.1 × R1 × C1

How to Build:

To build a Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit follow the below steps for connections:

  • Put all parts as shown in circuit.
  • Pin 1 of IC 555 goes to GND.
  • Pin 2 connect to pin 6.
  • Pin 3 goes to LED1 and R3 and then to positive supply.
  • Pin 4 and pin 8 go to positive supply.
  • Again pin 1 go to GND.
  • R2 and switch S1 connect between pin 2 and pin 7.
  • R1 connect between pin 7 and positive supply.
  • Pin 5 goes to GND through capacitor C2.
  • Positive of C1 connect to pin 2 and negative to GND.
  • Switch S2 go to positive of 9V battery and battery negative go to GND.

Conclusion:

This Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit is fun for testing time feel.

If required we can change R1 and C1 to try new time delays.

It is an easy to build and good for beginners circuit.

This circuit helps to learn monostable mode and human time sense.
