Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit

Last updated on 17 June 2026 by Admin-Lavi Leave a Comment

Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit is fun and easy to make, it uses IC 555 and make time delay, so press one switch and start timer.

Then guess time presses second switch and it stop and then LED show result and it is good for learning how brain feel time.

Also, circuit uses 9V battery.

Circuit Working:

Parts List:

ComponentsValuesQuantity
Resistors (All resistors are 1/4 watt unless specified)2.2M, 100k, 330Ω1 each
CapacitorsCeramic 0.01µF1
Electrolytic 1µF 25V1
SemiconductorsIC 555 Timer1
LED 5mm 20mA1
Push button switch1
SPST switch1
9V Battery1

When S1 is ON then C1 charge through R1 and R2 and then 555 timer work in monostable so pin 3 goes HIGH.

LED1 turns ON and starts the timing cycle and capacitor C1 then charges until it reaches two-thirds of the supply voltage, causing the timer to reset, then pin 3 goes low, and LED1 turns OFF.

After that press S2 which stop timer and compare guessed time vs real time.

The formula for time delay in monostable mode is: T = 1.1 × R1 × C1

How to Build:

To build a Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit follow the below steps for connections:

  • First, put all parts as shown in circuit.
  • Next, pin 1 of IC 555 goes to GND.
  • Then pin 2 connect to pin 6 and positive of C1 connect to pin 2 and negative to GND.
  • After that, pin 3 goes to LED1 and R3 and then to positive supply.
  • Now pin 4 and pin 8 go to positive supply.
  • Further, R2 and switch S1 connect between pin 2 and pin 7 and then R1 connect between pin 7 and positive supply.
  • Also, pin 5 goes to GND through capacitor C2.
  • Finally, switch S2 go to positive of 9V battery and battery negative go to GND.

Conclusion:

To conclude, this Simple 555 Timer Based Time Sense Tester Circuit is fun for testing time feel and if required we can change R1 and C1 to try new time delays.

Also, it is an easy to build and good for beginners circuit and this circuit helps to learn monostable mode and human time sense.
