First, AC input comes from mains supply, switch S1 controls ON and OFF condition and fuse F1 protects circuit from over current.
Then transformer T1 steps down high AC voltage from 220V to 20V AC and this low AC voltage goes to bridge rectifier.
Diodes D1 to D4 form bridge rectifier and they convert AC into pulsating DC, after that capacitor C1 filters this DC and removes ripple.
Now voltage becomes smooth DC around 28V to 30V.
This DC goes to LM7824 regulator IC which regulates voltage and gives fixed 24V output, capacitors C2 and C3 improve stability and remove noise at output.
Finally, circuit gives clean +24V DC output with ground reference.
How to Build:
To build a Simple 24V 1A DC Power Supply Circuit using 7824 IC follow the below connection steps:
- Circuit starts, by collecting all the parts as in diagram above.
- Then stat with Transformer T1 with primary end connects to AC mains through switch and fuse and secondary gives 20V AC.
- Then connect bridge rectifier D1-D4 in bridge form, with two ends connect to transformer output and positive and negative go to capacitor C1.
- After that start with IC LM7824 pin input connect filtered DC from capacitor C1.
- Pin ground connect to common ground line of circuit.
- Pin output connect to regulated +24V output.
- Then start with capacitor C2 100µF and connect between output and ground.
- And lastly, with capacitor C3 0.1µF connect parallel with C2 at output for noise filtering.
