Toy Organ Circuit using Transistors

Last updated on 4 July 2026 by Admin-Lavi Leave a Comment

This Toy Organ Circuit using Transistors show how electronic circuits can produce music with only a few components; also the circuit uses just two transistors and a few simple parts, so it requires no IC, no coding, and no complex components.

When we press different push buttons, the circuit produces different sound tones, so it works like a small electronic music keyboard.

Finally, this project is simple, low-cost, and ideal for learning the basics of electronics.

Circuit Working:

Toy Organ Circuit Diagram using Transistors

Parts List:

ComponentsValuesQuantity
Resistors (All resistors are 1/4 watt)1.2k8
10k2
100Ω1
Capacitors Ceramic 0.1uF2
SemiconductorsTransistor BC5472
Speaker 8Ω1
LED any color1
Battery 9V1
Switch Push Button7

First, applying a 9V supply starts the circuit, the two BC547 transistors repeatedly switch ON and OFF, causing oscillation.

The capacitors then charge and discharge continuously, producing square-wave signals, then the output transistor sends these signals to the speaker, which produces sound.

When we press a switch, the resistance value changes, which changes the frequency and produces different musical sounds; finally, the LED blinks to indicate the sound pulses.

How to Build:

To build a Toy Organ Circuit using Transistors follow the below connection steps:

  • First, take all components as shown in the circuit diagram.
  • Next, collector of Q1 connects to R8 and C1, then base of Q1 connects to the junction of R11 and C2 and emitter of Q1 connects to ground.
  • Then collector of Q2 connects to speaker, LED and R10, base of Q2 connects to C2 and R9 and emitter of Q2 also connects to ground.
  • Also, one pin of switch S1 goes to common ground and the other pin of S1 connects between R1 and R2.
  • Finally, switches S2 to S7 use the same connection method.

Conclusion:

Overall, this Toy Organ Circuit using Transistors is very simple to build because it uses no IC or microcontroller, it also helps users understand how an oscillator works.

Also, this project is good for students and hobby learners and it is a fun way to learn basic electronics.
