Parts List:

ComponentSpecificationQuantity
Resistors10k 1/4 watts2
CapacitorsElectrolytic 1µF 25V1
Ceramic 0.1µF1
SemiconductorsIC TC44241
Diode 1N58174
DC Motor 100mA1

TC4424 chip IC is fast dual driver for MOSFET and is good for DC motor control.

Control signal chooses motor spin way.

POWER and DIRECTION inputs have pull-down resistors R1 and R2 for stable work.

Direction HIGH motor spin one way.

Direction LOW motor spin other way.

Diodes D1 to D4 stop back EMF from motor.

Capacitors C1 and C2 cut noise and keep chip steady.

Circuit works with 10 to 18V DC and is good for many DC motor jobs.

Formulas:

Below are the formulas for Simple Motor Driver Circuit using IC TC4424:

Power:

P = V × I

where,

  • V is for supply voltage
  • I is for motor current.

Motor current:

I = V / R

where,

  • R is motor resistance.

How to Build:

To build a Motor Driver Circuit using IC TC4424 follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Assemble parts from circuit diagram.
  • Pin 2 of TC4424 IC goes to POWER input.
  • Pin 3 goes to GND.
  • Pin 4 goes to DIRECTION input.
  • Pin 5 connects to one motor terminal.
  • Pin 6 connects to 10 to 18V DC supply.
  • Pin 7 goes to other motor terminal.
  • R1 connects to one end +5V and other end goes to pin 2.
  • R2 connect to one end of +5V and other end goes to pin 4.
  • C and C2 connect between 10 to 18V DC and GND.
  • D1connect anode GND, and cathode pin 5.
  • D2 connect anode pin 5 and cathode of 10 to18V DC.
  • D4 connect anode GND and cathode to pin 7.
  • D3 connect anode pin 7 and cathode to 10 to 18V DC.

Conclusion:

Motor Driver Circuit using IC TC4424 is easy, fast and controls direction.

Circuit just needs few parts to make.

Schottky diodes stop back EMF and make circuit strong for many uses.
