Step-Up Converter Circuit: 6V to 15V Boost Regulator

Last updated on 13 August 2025 by Admin-Lavi Leave a Comment

Step-Up Converter 6V to 15V use IC LM2585 and a switch mode regulator.

LM2585 IC is very good for boost voltage.

It can use in boost, flyback, forward or multi-output systems.

Chip has built-in switch and can handle up to 3A.

This Step-Up Converter Circuit: 6V to 15V Boost Regulator is good to get high voltage from low voltage source.

Circuit Working:

Parts List:

Component TypeSpecificationQuantity
Resistors56k 1/4 watt1
4.7k 1/4 watt1
2.7k 1/4 watt1
CapacitorsElectrolytic 680µF 25V1
Electrolytic 220µF 25V1
Ceramic 0.1µF2
SemiconductorsLM2585 IC1
Schottky diode 1N5820 Diode1
Inductor 22µH1

IC LM2585 is switch regulator and it change 6V input to 15V output.

When LM2585 switch is ON and current flow in inductor L1 and then this L1 store energy in magnetic field.

When switch is OFF energy from L1 add extra voltage to input.

Diode D1 send energy to output capacitor C1.

C1 keep output steady at 15V and C4 help input voltage.

R1 and R2 feedback control switch ON/OFF to keep 15V output.

C2, C3 and C4 filter keep circuit stable and reduce voltage changes and make system smooth.

How to Build:

To build a Step-Up Converter Circuit: 6V to 15V Boost Regulator follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Gather all the parts as per circuit diagram
  • Connect IC1 LM2585 pin 1 to GND through resistor R3 and capacitor C2.
  • Connect IC1 pin 2 between resistors R1 and R2.
  • Connect IC1 pin 3 to GND.
  • Connect IC1 pin 4 to junction of pin 5 and inductor L1 coil.
  • Connect IC1 pin 5 to junction of 6V input and inductor L1 coil.
  • Connect diode D1 between one terminal of L1 and one terminal of resistor R1.
  • Connect capacitor C1 positive to 15V output and negative to GND.
  • Connect capacitor C3 between IC1 pin 5 and GND.
  • Connect capacitor C4 positive to 6V input and negative to GND.

Conclusion:

This Step-Up Converter Circuit: 6V to 15V Boost Regulator using LM2585 chip is useful project

It simple, efficient and need few parts.

Circuit is good for battery devices, car electronics and portable devices

We can change output voltage by changing resistor network to fit our need.
