Car Stereo Amplifier Circuit using IC TDA1553

Last updated on 5 August 2025 by Admin-Lavi Leave a Comment

Car stereo amplifier is very important.

It makes sound signal strong and give power to speaker so they work good.

This Car Stereo Amplifier Circuit using IC TDA1553 chip is strong for Class B amplifier.

Chip is made for car radios and is small in size, work well and need few parts to make.

It can run two 4 ohm speakers.

Sound come out strong and clear and music sounds better.

Circuit Working:

Parts List:

Component TypeDescriptionQuantity
CapacitorsCeramic 100nF1
Ceramic 220nF2
Electrolytic 2200μF 25V1
Electrolytic 4.7μF 25V1
SemiconductorsIC TDA15531
4Ω speakers2
On Off switch1

The above circuit diagram shows TDA1553 IC, some capacitors and two 4 ohm speakers.

It works with 12V DC and is usually from car battery.

C1 and C2 capacitors help clean and steady the power and removes noise.

Audio input right goes to pin 1 and left goes to pin 13 on IC.

C4 and C5 block DC from input and keep signal clean.

TDA1553 works in BTL mode by using two amps for each channel and this gives more power.

Amplifier sends strong sound to speaker1 right and speaker2 left.

There is also an On/Off switch which can change mode with standby, mute or normal.

It is good for saving power and cutting noise.

Formulas with Calculations:

Power Output (Pout):

For Class B amplifier is in bridge mode:

Pout = Vsupply² / (2 × Rload)

here,

  • Vsupply is 12V
  • Rload is 4Ω

So,

Pout = 12² / (2 × 4) = 144 / 8 = 18W per channel

Total = 18W × 2 = 36W for 2 channels

Heat Dissipation:

Amplifier makes heat when working.

Heat = Power from supply − Power to speakers

Pheat = Psupply − Pout

Psupply = Isupply × Vsupply

where,

  • Pout is 36W

Use heat sink for IC which helps keep it cool and safe.

How to Build:

To build a Car Stereo Amplifier Circuit using IC TDA1553 follow the below mentioned steps for assembling and connections

  • Gather all the parts as shown in circuit diagram
  • Pin 1 of IC1 connects to C4 and GND
  • Pin 2, 5, 8 of IC1 connects to GND
  • Pin 3 of IC1 goes to +12V
  • C1 and C2 connects between +12V and GND
  • Pin 4 of IC1 connects one side of 4Ω Speaker1
  • Other side of Speaker1 goes to pin 6 of IC1
  • Pin 7 of IC1 connects one side of 4Ω Speaker2
  • Other side of Speaker2 connects to pin 9 of IC1
  • Pin 10 of IC1 goes to +12V
  • Pin 11 of IC1 goes to one side of switch S1
  • Other side of S1 connects to +12V
  • Pin 12 of IC1 connects to positive of C3 and negative of C3 goes to GND
  • Pin 13 of IC1 connects to C5 and GND

Conclusion:

This Car Stereo Amplifier Circuit using IC TDA1553 is small and strong project.

It is easy to build and sound is clear and loud.

It is good for car audio upgrade or DIY.

The circuit keeps it cool and use steady power for best working.
