Simple LED Flashlight Circuit (Torch Circuit)

Last updated on 28 April 2026 by Admin-Lavi Leave a Comment

This Simple LED Flashlight Circuit (Torch Circuit) is an easy circuit for beginner, it uses white LED, small battery and one push button.

Further, when we press the push button, the LED produces bright light.

The circuit also, uses only 3 volt and small current of about 20 mA to give light at night, hence it is a good project to learn about how basic electronics work.

What is a LED Flashlight Circuit (Torch Circuit):

The Simple LED Flashlight Circuit (Torch Circuit) also called a torch circuit, is an easy circuit that produces light when the LED turns ON.

LED flashlight is better than old bulb because it saves more energy and works long time, so many people like to use them.

Circuit Working:

Simple LED Flashlight Circuit Diagram (Torch Circuit)

Parts List:

ComponentsValuesQuantity
LEDWhite 20mA 5mm1
Push Button1
CellsAAA 1.5 Cells2

This simple circuit uses two AAA battery which are join in series, as it gives 3 volt total which is enough to turn ON an LED.

Next, connect LED carefully between positive and negative side of battery.

In addition, a push button connects in series with the LED and when the button is pressed the flashlight turns ON or OFF.

Thus, when user presses the button the circuit become complete and LED glows bright.

And therefore, this small but useful project is very good for beginner who want to learn electronics.

Formulas:

We can use this formula to show how white LED give bright light in new lighting techniques:

PLED = VLED × ILED

where:

  • VLED is voltage on LED
  • ILED is current connects through LED

These white LEDs are super bright and they give strong light but only need 3 volt and small current of about 20 mA and hence for circuit part total voltage from batteries is:

Vtotal = Ncells × Vcell

where:

  • Ncells is number of battery cells andin this circuit it is 2.
  • Vcell is voltage of one cell and that is 1.5V.

So 1.5V × 2 = 3V.

In this LED flashlight circuit LED connect between plus and minus side of battery, one push button is also connect in series and this button turn light ON and OFF and power used by whole circuit is:

Ptotal = Vtotal × Itotal

where:

  • Itotal is current in full circuit.

Since circuit does not have much resistance the current stays small and LED still glows bright.

How to Build:

To build a Simple LED Flashlight Circuit (Torch Circuit) follow the below mentioned steps for connections:

  • First, put all parts together same like in circuit diagram.
  • Next, we may need push button switch, two AAA battery, one white LED and wire.
  • Also take simple tools like soldering iron and wire cutter.
  • Then, join AAA battery in series and this will give the total of 3 volt.
  • After that, connect positive side of first battery to negative side of second battery.
  • Also, other two ends means one plus and one minus will stay free for now.
  • Now connect LED to battery, long leg of LED connects to plus side of battery and short leg connects to minus side and be sure LED side polarity is correct.
  • Next, push button and LED must be in series and connect one side of switch to batteries positive and other side of switch connects to LEDs positive leg.
  • Then use soldering iron to fix all wire connection.
  • See to it that we make solder strong and clean so electricity passes easily and wire does not break.
  • After that, cover open wires with tape or heat shrink tube to stop short circuit.
  • Next, put everything inside a box so parts do not move and keep push button in place where hand can press easy.

Finish:

  • After all wires are join and parts are in box our simple LED flashlight is ready for use, it is fun and easy project to start learning about electronics.

Conclusion

To conclude, for people who start learning electronics this Simple LED Flashlight Circuit (Torch Circuit) project is very good to begin which gives bright light and uses less power like we see in formula above.

Also, this simple LED flashlight is easy to make and gives real practice for beginners, it help us to start fun journey in electronics world.
