This article is about Simple Timer Based Clock Ticking Sound Circuit using IC 555, as 555 in astable mode make repeat signal like clock tick.; also, signal goes to small speaker and make ticking sound.
Furthermore, circuit is good for beginner, easy to learn 555 timer and sound making.
Circuit Working:

Parts List:
| Components | Values | Quantity |
|---|---|---|
| Resistor | 43k 1/4 watt | 1 |
| Capacitors | Electrolytic 10µF 16V | 2 |
| Semiconductors | IC 555 Timer | 1 |
| Speaker 8Ω | 1 | |
| Power Supply 9V Battery | 1 |
First, circuit uses 555 timer in astable mode and this 555 turn ON and OFF to make square wave, also ON/OFF speed make ticking sound.
Here, R1 43k control capacitor charge speed, C2 10µF with R1 set timing and C1 10µF block DC and pass AC to speaker, moreover, speaker 8Ω change signal to sound.
How to Build:
To build a Simple Timer Based Clock Ticking Sound Circuit follow the below steps:
- First, collect all parts from circuit diagram.
- Next, connect pin 1 of 555 to GND.
- After that, connect pin 2 to pin 6 and then R1 goes between pin 2 and V+ and also connect to pin 6 and also C2 goes between pin 2 and GND.
- Now pin 3 connect to (+) side of C1 and other side of C1 goes to one side of 8Ω speaker and also other side of speaker goes to GND.
- Then pin 4 and pin 8 connect to +9V.
Conclusion:
To conclude, this Simple Timer Based Clock Ticking Sound Circuit can make ticking sound and change R1 or C2 to change tick speed.
Also, it is an easy and small project for beginners.
