Stereo Audio Amplifier Circuit using IC 6283

Last updated on 22 July 2025 by Admin-Lavi Leave a Comment

IC 6283 is popular stereo audio amplifier chip for low to medium power.

We can build circuit or buy ready made board with this chip.

Stereo Audio Amplifier Circuit using IC 6283 is easy to make and is good for stereo amplifier.

It uses one strong chip to boost weak stereo sound.

Chip is small, easy to solder and made for portable devices like MP3 player.

Each speaker can get up to 4.6 watts and if power supply is 9 to 12V.

Parts List:

CategoryItemQuantity
ResistorsR1 82Ω 2 watt1
R2 82Ω 2 watt1
CapacitorsCeramic 0.1μF2
Electrolytic 100μF 16V2
Electrolytic 47μF 16V2
Electrolytic 1μF 16V2
Electrolytic 220μF 16V1
Electrolytic 1000μF 16V3
SemiconductorsIC 62831
8Ω speakers2

IC 6283 chip is easy to use amplifier with many features.

It works safely in 6 to 15V power with no overheating.

High input resistance of 30k means no need for extra preamp for most audio sources.

Circuit is for stereo and mostly run with 12V.

Two capacitors like C11, C12 and 1µF help control audio input.

Two 8 ohm speakers connect to output.

Channel 1 uses pin 2 for output and pin 5 for input.

Channel 2 uses pin 10 for output and pin 7 for input which is the same setup.

Gain loudness can change by adjusting resistors R1 and R2.

This setup gives 45 dB gain and for exact gain we need to check IC datasheet.

Design is simple as IC 6283 has 12 pins in one row and needs only few extra parts to work as stereo amp.

Formulas:

When making basic stereo amp with IC 6283 we should think about power voltage, speaker ohms, gain and heat control.

Some main formulas to help:

Gain (G):

G = Rf / Rin

where,

  • Rf is feedback resistor
  • Rin is input resistor

Change these to adjust gain.

Output Power (Pout):

Pout = Vpeak² / (2 × R)

where,

  • R is speaker impedance with 8Ω
  • Vpeak is max voltage across speaker

Use these tips and formulas to build simple and good stereo amp with IC 6283.

How to Build:

To build a Stereo Audio Amplifier Circuit using IC 6283 follow the below mentioned steps

  • Gather all the circuit parts as shown in diagram
  • Join pin 1 to pin 2 of IC1 using capacitor C1.
  • Pin 2 goes to positive side of capacitor C10 and negative of C10 goes to 8Ω speaker which is the audio output1.
  • Pin 3 connects to positive side of C2 and negative side goes to ground.
  • Pin 4 connects to ground through resistor R1 and capacitor C3.
  • Pin 5 connects to audio input1 through capacitor C12.
  • Pin 6 goes to ground.
  • Pin 7 connects to audio input2 through capacitor C11.
  • Pin 8 connects to ground through resistor R2 and capacitor C4.
  • Pin 9 goes to ground.
  • Pin 10 connects to one end of 8Ω speaker through capacitor C7.
  • Pin 11 joins to pin 10 through capacitor C5.
  • Pin 12 goes to +12V power and capacitor C6 positive side connects to pin 12 and negative side to ground.
  • 8Ω speaker audio output2 connects one end from pin 10 and other end joins with output1 and then to capacitor C10 of negative side.

Safety Tips:

  • Be careful while making circuit.
  • Learn and understand circuit first.
  • If beginner try better to buy ready made amplifier board.

Conclusion:

Stereo Audio Amplifier Circuit using IC 6283 is easy and is for small audio amp solution.

This circuit needs few extra parts.

It works in wide voltage range, has heat protection and is good for portable use.
