This Simple Solar Powered Animal Scarer Circuit is special as it uses sun power to stop animals come close.
It make noise flash like a light or do other thing to scare animal like bird, rat or even big animal.
People who have garden, farm or open place use this to keep plant and human safe from animal damage.
This circuit have three big parts:
One solar panel charges a battery during the day.
There is a sensor to detect or hear animals and a tool to broadcast sounds that only animals can hear with flash lights or generate frightening noises.
When sensor see animal, circuit turn ON with scary tool because of which an animal run away.

This is solar device which scares night animals like bats and cats and stops them from coming to farm or place.
It makes them strong with colorful flash lights.
Animals get confuse and run away.
It work by itself by switching ON at night and OFF during morning.
Inside it have circuit with oscillator it uses LDR and one IC called CD 4060 which is the binary counter.
The IC work by pin 12 which is the reset pin.
In day time LDR gives power and keep pin 12 high so IC does not work.
At night LDR stop by giving power and then pin 12 goes low by VR1.
Now IC start working and make flash with help of C1 and VR2.
LEDs connect to output pins 7, 5 and 4.
VR1 make LDR more or less sensitive.
VR2 change how fast lights flash.
It use strong red, blue and white LEDs to make bright flash.
First red LEDs blink fast, then blue and then white.
White LEDs stay ON for little time to light small area.
One can put more LEDs if they want.
Circuit also can run on 12V battery or power supply.
Formula:
We can use IC 4060 to make animal repeller circuit.
IC 4060 is special chip with count and also make signal again and again (oscillator).
It have 14 steps means the stages and give steady signal.
Oscillator Frequency:
How fast the signal connects (frequency) depend on resistor R and capacitor C these connect to pin 9 and 10 of IC 4060.
Use this formula to find frequency just approx:
f = 1.44 / ((R + 2 × Rpot) × C)
here,
- Rpot is the value of variable resistor potentiometer one can turn it to change frequency.
Duty Cycle how long light stay ON:
Using capacitor and potentiometer, you can also change how long LED stay on or off.
Duty cycle is:
D = T1 / T
- T1 is time LED is ON.
- T is full time of one ON + OFF.
Change capacitor and potentiometer to change this time.
LED Resistor:
To stop LED from burning we have used resistor to find resistor value by ohms law:
RLED = (Vsupply – VLED) / ILED
where,
- Vsupply is the power from battery
- VLED is the LEDs forward voltage like 2V
- ILED is how much current LED needs which is usually 10 to 20 mA
Different animals may need different settings.
So try changing values of R, C, VR to get good result for the circuit..
How to Build:
To build a Simple Solar Powered Animal Scarer Circuit one needs to follow the below mentioned steps:
- Connect LDR to pin 12 of IC CD4060.
- This pin make IC reset when light change and LDR sees the light and controls it..
- Join VR1 with LDR and VR1 will help to set how sensitive LDR is.
- Connect VR2 to IC and VR2 to change how fast LEDs flash.
- Put resistor R1 and R2 with VR2 to stop too much current going to LEDs.
- Connect LEDs like this:
- Red LED to pin 7
- Blue LED to pin 5
- White LED to pin 4
- Put diode 1N4007 between solar panel and battery as it stop power going back to panel.
- Also put diode 1N4007 between battery and circuit which stop battery send power the wrong way.

- Ensure all wires and parts are connected right.
- Look at circuit diagram and check everything before one gives power.
- Turn VR1 and VR2 to get best result with good light flash speed and light detection.

This circuit use solar battery for power.
In daytime battery get charge from sun through resistor R1 and diode D1.
One green LED turn ON to show charging is happening.
At night when sun goes down and solar power become low D1 stop working with reverse bias and D2 start working with forward bias.
Then power go to circuit from battery.
R1 stop too much current from going to battery when charging.
Big capacitor C1 work like buffer as it store little current and give smooth power to circuit.
How to Build:
Below mentioned are the steps to build a Simple Animal Scarer Solar Power Supply Circuit:
- Connect solar panel to + positive of the battery
- Connect solar panel – negative to D1 anode positive side and D2 cathode to negative side.
- Connect D1 cathode to battery + positive
- Connect D2 anode to circuit + positive where load is connected.
- Connect D1 cathode to LED anode and LED cathode to battery – negative.
- Connect one side of resistor R1 to solar panel + positive and other side to D1 anode.
- Connect capacitor C1 + positive side to D1 anode and other side to battery –.negative
Note:
- Check all wires and parts carefully.
- Check positive and negative polarity is correct.
- LED will turn ON in day time to show charging and at night circuit will get power from battery.
- Change R1 and C1 values if needed depend on ones circuit use.
